Upper Ovens Valley Landcare Group inc

The Upper Ovens Valley Landcare Group Inc covers a considerable part of the upper catchment of the Ovens River, from Ovens through Porepunkah and Bright to Harrietville, incorporating the Buckland Valley and Wandiligong Valley.

About Upper Ovens Valley Landcare Group Inc

Upper Ovens Valley Landcare Group Inc is an active Landcare group interested in empowering community to ensure a sustainable future for our land, water and biodiversity.

The objects for which the Association is established are: -

(a) To encourage a community wide, cooperative, multidisciplinary approach to caring for the land.

(b) To promote sustainable land and water management practices that balance: economics and ecology, productivity and resource protection. And that aim to:

-Increase the number of trees
-Reduce soil and nutrient loss
-Eliminate pest plants and animals
-Decrease chemical usage
-Improve water quality
-Improve soil quality and fertility
-Improve bio-links

(c) To encourage landowners to embrace practice change to enhance ecosystem services and to improve prospects for sustainable agriculture and bio-diversity.

(d) To engage the community in increased awareness of environmental sensitivities and increase their participation in public land management.

(e) To engage suitably qualified people as necessary, when funds allow, to coordinate and facilitate initiatives and strategies that advance Landcare and ecosystem service enhancement.

(f) To raise money by gift or subscription or otherwise as the committee may see fit.

(g) To do all such things as are incidental or conducive to the attainment of the objects and to exercise of the powers of the Association.
